Melbourne - Day 2
|
|
the big day !!
pictures in this album are the views along the great ocean road as we drove along the way to see the 12 Apostles. there few a stop "scenic stops" as they call it and we got down and took billions of pictures
our tour starts at 7.50am and there were about 18 of us in the bus. there were the 3 of us.. a gay couple.. a girl from britain and her friend.. gloria and a korean girl.. a couple from ireland.. 2 japanese girls.. another 4-5 people and the tour guide, Simon himself.
exactly 7 days ago from this date, one of the Apostles fell down leaving us with only 11 left. we weren't only visiting the Apostles, we went to see London Bridge as well and it actually had fallen down in 1990 when a group of tourists went there and a couple crossed the bridge to the other end. as it collapsed, the couple were stranded there for 3 hrs. i remember reading the paper clip and it was mrs. darrington or something. don't exactly remember the names. we also saw the place where the shipwreck happened years back with only 2 survivors out of 54 people on board. a part from that.. there were also the bush-walking into the forest and free lunch at a plc called nautigirls. kinky eh?
there was a faulty with the bus on our way back to melbourne so we were stranded at a petrol station for an hour to an hour and a half. luckily there were mcdonalds nearby so we went there and had a chat while waiting for someone to rescue us.
reached the hotel around 11.45 and went to bed at 1.30am for our last day in Melb.

arrived by 6.50am and walked to the backpackers place. BakPak Hotel. crummy little place but just nice for little travellers like us.
first visit.. the queen victoria market on our way there.. there was an art museum with few statues along the road. we decided to take pictures with them. not surprising that only one interest us
jules bought some aboriginal art and izmia bought some things for her family back in maldives. as for me, saving for a rainy day.
next stop.. the federation square. great architectures.. beautiful lake.. good food (haha).. and fed those greedy seagulls.
melbourne museum.. nothing much.. but great place to be. calm and relaxing. had our dinner which was tuna, bread, salad etc etc
then back to the hotel.. relaxed for a while before going to southbank.. walked through the king and queen bridge and took million pictures on the way there. izmia bought perfume for looba and went to the casino. the place to be. didn't enter though but the view around those area was excellent. not to be missed. great great place to be at night.
head back to the hotel to recharge ourselves for the next big day

izmia, jules and i on our trip to melbourne.
jules had to leave early back to korea so we decided the night before to go to melbourne and spend some time there . it was a very quick decision as we had only went to STA (student travel agency) this afternoon and thankfully we managed to book bus tickets tonight.
12 hours journey i tell you.. it was not funny.
the whole trip knocked 280 dollars out of each of us including the great ocean tour trip and accomodation. so that morning before we left for STA all of us decided to do our laundry and with a little help from our scrawny heaters.. they were nice and clean before we left.
bus departs at 8.30pm and arrives by 6.50am with 3 or 4 stops. our seats were right next to the bus toilet but we couldn't care less. slept through the journey like a baby well... almost
